Therapy Services
Returning to work. Promoting greater range of motion to a hand stricken with arthritis. Improving a child's ability to speak. Making it possible for stroke patients to remain self-sufficient. Helping an athlete recover from injury and get back to the game. These are just some of the roles Therapy Services plays in improving patient well-being.
The expansion and renovation of Virginia Gay Hospital has greatly improved the facilities for Therapy Services. Patients enjoy greater privacy, the opportunity to use more sophisticated therapeutic equipment, and a new hydrotherapy pool.
For many patients, adequate exercise and range of motion are hampered by an inability to fully bear one's full weight. Joint replacement and traumatic injuries are just two conditions that make full weight-bearing difficult, if not impossible. The new aquatic therapy pool, and exercise under the supervision of a qualified and highly trained therapist, promises to return range of motion much sooner in the healing process.
The same therapists provide care throughout the entire range of VGH services. Whether the circumstance requires an Acute Care stay, skilled nursing through the Virginia Gay nursing and rehabilitation wing, home visits, or as an outpatient.
